Chuck Fleischmann trying to look important
It's Time to Chuck CHUCK
U. S. Congressman Chuck Fleischmann of Tennessee has proven by his votes that he does NOT represent the people and needs of the Third District of Tennessee and doesn't deserve another term.  Voters are fed up with all the political partisanship and fighting in Congress.  We want someone who will work to solve real problems and not waste time on wedge issues that only divide our country.   If you don't like our government, vote to change it.  If you don't vote for change, don't expect better government.
It's time we got a representative who is not afraid to meet voters face to face.

We don't need any more Diane Black type Republicans, like Chuck Fleischmann,
representing themselves in Congress, instead of us.

Chuck Fleischmann has done nothing to help the citizens of the 3rd District of Tennessee gain better access to affordable, quality healthcare.  He bragged on the House floor that the Affordable Care Act (ACA) was crumbling under its own weight and said we deserve better, but he has done nothing to make it better.  In fact he has done everything he could to repeal the Affordable Care Act (over 50 times), and has voted to sabotage it by removing provisions that would keep it operational, affordable, and improve it.

Chuck loved to promote on Facebook, Breast Cancer  and Prostate awareness.  Had a great photo op with the American Cancer Society, but on May 4, 2017 he voted for HR 1628 (the miss-named American Health Care Act of 2017).  One provision of this act would have repealed a women's right to preventive mammogram screening  from insurance companies under the Affordable Care Act.  This act also repealed preventive screenings for men's prostate exams being covered by insurance.  Thank God, the Democrats and a couple of courageous Republicans were able to stop this disastrous bill in the Senate.  He also voted to defund provisions in the ACA that provided funds to hospitals for care to indigent patients.  Since 2010 this has caused 10 (now 12) rural hospital in Tennessee to close, the second highest rate in the nation behind Texas and the most hospital closings in the U. S. per capita.  To be fair, 2 have reopened with minimal services.  Thirty more hospitals in Tennessee are at risk of closing.  Can you imagine having a heart attack in a rural county and having to travel 30 to 50 miles to a hospital, instead of 5 to 10 miles.  It could mean the difference between life or death.  What's the old saying, "With friends like that who needs enemies."

Chuck is Trying to Profit from Health Care at Patients Expense

It's bad enough that Chuck works against healthcare, but he is even trying to profit at the expense of patients.  He serves on the Congressional Diabetes Caucus and should be looking out for the best interest of those he represents.  Instead he has taken money from three insulin drug manufacturers and has bought stock in at least two because he knew his caucus would do nothing to curb rapidly rising insulin costs.  All this information comes from the Federal Election Commission website that shows campaign contributions and investments.

Chuck sells out diabetes patients

As the chart below shows, there has been a steady increase in the price of life saving insulin since Medicare Part D passed and prevented the government from negotiating drug prices.  Chuck tries to blame the ACA Exchange plans for the increase, but that is not the case.  It is the Republican congress that won't pass legislation that will allow the government to negotiate drug prices that is keeping insulin and other drug prices unreasonably high.  A case can be made that the increased prices for insulin that patients have to pay, are helping to fund Chuck's political campaign.  Shame on him.

Rising Insulin Prices

This chart shows how the cost of medicine for diabetes care is a huge cost of care.

If Woodchuck Chuck tried to buy stock this way, he would probably be arrested for Insider Trading.  Imagine if you knew an industry was about to receive a windfall and could buy stock before the public knew about it.

Is this Insider Trading?

Maybe it isn't Insider Trading, Maybe it's Quid Pro Quo.  Maybe it's both.  You Decide.

U. S. Health Care Costs Continue to Skyrocket

As can be seen by the above practices, Chuck Fleischmann plays his part in keeping the U. S. health care costs the most expensive in the World.  We far out spend all other industrialized nations.

Healthcare Spending in the Industriallized Nations

One would think that the U. S. health care system would be the best in the world, as many Republicans like to tout.  The reality is far different.  Despite having the most expensive health care system, the United States ranks last overall among 11 industrialized countries on measures of health system quality, efficiency, access to care, equity, and healthy lives, according to a Commonwealth Fund report.

There are several reasons why health care costs go up.  You have an aging population and an increase in population, among another reasons, but the biggest reason is just price increases.  We need representatives in Congress like Dr Danielle Mitchell who will look out for the well being of it's citizens over those of large corporate profits.

Why there are Health Care Cost Increases

Think your Medicare is Safe?

In 2017 Chuck Fleischmann voted for H.R. 849, miss-named the Protecting Seniors Access to Medicare Act.  One of the things this bill would do is amend the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) to terminate the Independent Payment Advisory Board (IPAB).  Under the PPACA, the IPAB is tasked with developing proposals to reduce the per capita rate of growth in Medicare spending.  It appears that the only reason to vote for this is because he wants Medicare to go bankrupt, so he can declare it a failure and move to privatize senior's healthcare.  (More money for Chuck!) Fortunately this bill has been tabled and not enacted so far, but it is not because Chuck didn't try.

The bad part is that the above only begins to scratch the surface of what Chuck has been doing (or not doing) in Congress for the last eight years.  Do you really want Chuck Fleischmann representing you in Congress for two more years?  Can you afford two more years?

Tennessee is number 1 in bankruptcyDid you know that Tennessee is number one in the nation for filing Bankruptcy?  A high percentage of these are because of medical bankruptcy.  The United States is the only industrialized country in the world that has medical bankruptcy.  That is because all the other countries have universal health care coverage for their citizens.

Everyone knows that Chuck Fleischmann is an attorney.  Did you know that he and his wife started their business when they took over her father's business.  Did you know that what he does is act as a collections attorney, going after people who have had to file for bankruptcy.  It is no wonder he is so against universal health care.

What are the Leading Causes of Personal Bankruptcy

"While heavy consumer debt is a common cause of bankruptcy, other significant factors commonly leading to filings are major life changing events, such as getting divorced, being fired from a job, the death of a family member, or incurring a medical expenses not covered by insurance plans, as these all significantly reduce personal financial security and leverage. In fact, fewer than 9 % of the people filing for bankruptcy have not experienced a medical problem, a divorce, or loss of employment."

The above quote is from a economics article.  You can read the entire article here:

Universal Health Care for all would reduce bankruptcy by over 50 percent.

Most of this information was obtained from the Federal Election Commission and the websites.

Dr. Danielle Mitchell running for CongressThis year's mid-term election is probably one of the most important elections in years.  It will determine if all the gains made for the average family are eroded or saved.  It will determine if the income inequality that is destroying the middle class will keep getting worse.  With a 99.2 percent voting rate supporting President Trump, Chuck Fleischmann is a big part of this problem.

There is a new candidate, Dr. Danielle Mitchell, who is running to replace the ineffective Chuck Fleischmann as your Congresswoman.  She is a self made person from very humble beginnings, and through hard work and determination worked her way through medical school and became a medical doctor, then a business woman by opening her own 1400 patient clinic.  She's not afraid of hard work.

She is not a career politician and decided to run for office after the devastating setback with healthcare legislation.  She thinks healthcare legislation should be written for the benefit of people and not large corporations and pharmaceutical companies.  The United States is the only industrialized nation without universal healthcare and we are suffering for it.  She also believes that healthcare reform is more than health insurance reform, it should be about finding ways to lower costs of services and medicine.

If you are sick of a politician that uses his office for his own personal gain and to keep himself in office at the expense of the people he is supposed to represent, you will make sure you cast a vote for Dr. Danielle Mitchell on November 6, 2018.

Early Voting is October 17th through November 1st.

Tennessee is dead last in voter turnout for elections.  It is no wonder we don't get a change for the better.  If you are not registered to vote, you have until October 9th to register before the November 6th General Election.  A quick fact, the judicial system no longer uses voter registration as a method to select people for jury duty, just in case that is keeping you from registering.   You can register to vote online at or at your courthouse.

In the 2012 election the Democratic candidate, Dr. Mary Headrick, received over 90,000 votes and lost.  When she ran again in the 2014 off-year election, if all of the same people that had voted for her in 2012, had voted again for her, she would have won.  Over 25,000 did not bother to vote in 2014 and she lost.  Please don't be a non-voter.

Please don't believe your vote doesn't matter.  It matters if you want America to remain a democracy.  Win or lose, your vote matters because you matter.
